Background
Young people are the world's richest global resource, yet the most underdeveloped and underrepresented. The world has big problems that require fresh imaginations to solve these pressing issues. In 2015, 193 of 195 countries agreed to a set of goals set forth by the United Nations known as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to achieve by 2030. The Island17 Metaverse is the framework to find, fund, and launch the best ideas on the planet, driven by youth.
Vision
Each of the SDGs is a moonshot goal for humanity, and humanity can’t achieve moonshot goals without the best imaginations. Enter youth under 30, the digital natives of our time. We are creating a world where the ideas and imaginations of youth are championed and implemented in all sectors across the globe.
Gamification
Leveraging the power of gaming, youth innovation, blockchain, deFi, AI and more, Island17 players go on missions and earn tokens through skilled gameplay and contributions to the ecosystem, earning tokens that will exchange to players' chosen fiat currency. The differentiator between Island17 and more traditional games, is that blockchain economic design is used to reward our players for their contributions to the Metaverse or ecosystem.

What does the DAO do?
Island17 empowers youth ages 7-27 to put their passion, creativity, and energy to work in making their communities better through social ventures that address one of the 17 UN’s SDGs by building a social entrepreneurship ecosystem (accelerator centers, curriculum, mentors, digital platform/tools and micro-loans) designed specifically for youth to solve economic and environmental problems in their communities, and throughout the world.
